Game overview
Craps is one of the best online casino games and playing online is a great way to bring the casino floor excitement to the comfort of your home. Yes, there’s nothing like throwing real dice at a craps table, but if you’re looking to unwind and catch a quick game of one of the world’s most celebrated table games, playing craps online will deliver above and beyond. Let’s review the craps game at Borgata Online and see what it has to offer players.
Where did craps originate?
Keen to learn some facts about craps? Craps has a long and varied history that has undoubtedly added much to the game that we know today. A popular theory is that it started off as a game called Hazards, which was played by 12th-century English knights. It became a popular part of Medieval English culture from then onward. However, the French are credited with giving craps its modern name, as they called the games “Crabes” in the 1600s, and it soon grew in popularity throughout Europe. The game finally made its way to the USA and was given its official set of rules by John H. Winn in the 1900s.
Why is craps so popular?
The first reason for this game’s impeccable reputation is that it offers players a low house advantage. While playing blackjack at a casino or online will always mean that you’re taking advantage of the lowest possible house edge out of all the casino table games, craps almost always comes in as a close second. There are many factors at play, but the house edge usually falls somewhere between 1.4% and 5%, with blackjack’s house edge varying between 0.5% and 2%.
Another reason for craps’ popularity is the fact that the player is in control of the game. You get to choose the dice and place them however you want to before shooting, request the suspension of the table limit and much more.
If you’re new to the gambling world, you’ll love that it’s possible to win when playing craps, regardless of whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player. As long as you know and understand which bets offer the lowest house edges, there’s a decent chance you’ll walk away with a win rather than a loss.
Finally, thanks to the sheer number of bets to choose from, every single craps game is different, which adds to the excitement.
What is the objective of craps?
Before we get started on how to play craps, it’s a good idea to understand the basic objective behind the game. Simply put, the objective of craps is for you, and all the other players, to wager on the outcome of the two dice thrown onto the table. This could be on the immediate outcome of every throw or the outcome of a number of different throws. In craps, the game is always played against the house.
How to play craps at a casino – online and in-person
Online craps casino games and traditional craps at brick-and-mortar casinos are played the same way. For players who are new to playing this classic table game, the craps table may look very complex at first glance. As mentioned, with this online casino game, there are many different bets that you can place, and the table is marked with all the different betting possibilities. The table on the online version is the same as a regular casino’s craps table. All players place bets on the final number that is rolled on the dice. The player who throws the dice is known as the shooter.
How the craps gameplay works
First, choose which bet you would like to make and place your chips on that bet. The players then take turns to roll the dice and the shooter’s first roll is called a “Come Out roll.” The shooter will keep rolling the dice until they get a losing combination. If you bet on the Pass line, you’ll be hoping for the Come Out roll to be either 7 or 11. If the shooter throws a 7 or 11, all the Pass line bets will win at the craps table. If the Come Out roll is a 2, 3 or 12, it’s considered “craps,’’ and the Pass line bets are lost.
If the shooter throws a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 on the Come Out roll, that becomes the Point number for the remaining shooting round. The “off” button will be switched to “on” and will be located above the Point number. After more bets are placed, the shooter will roll the dice until either a 7 or the Point number is rolled again. You’ll notice in online craps the gameplay happens really quickly and dice rolls will be much faster.
Graphics
The graphics in the online craps interface are quite simplistic. Players are presented with a craps table and all the chips and different bets are laid out on the felt. The message area is located at the bottom on the right side of the game screen. The dealer audio is also available at the bottom of the screen and ready to assist you if you need any clarification.
Features
Along with the Pass/Don’t Pass bets, the online craps table has a few more multi-roll betting options available for players.
Come Bets: The Come bet is basically the same as a Pass bet, but it cannot be made on a Come Out roll. If a 7 or 11 is rolled, the Come bet will pay immediately and if a 2, 3 or 12 is rolled, the Come bet loses. Should another number be rolled, that number will become your new Point number. If the shooter rolls the Point number again before throwing a 7, the Come bet wins.
Don’t Come Bets: The Don’t Come bet is the opposite of the Come bet and it cannot be made on a Come Out roll. With the Don’t Come bet, you’ll be betting on a 2, 3 or 12 being rolled. If another number is rolled, that will be your new Point number and you’ll be hoping the shooter rolls a 7 before the Point number is rolled again.
In addition to these online craps bets, you’ll also see Buy/Lay bets, Place Win/Place Loss, Big 6/Big 8 and Hardways bets. All these bets are explained in the craps game.
Bonuses & jackpots
Playing craps online means you have access to a whole range of additional casino bonuses that you won’t necessarily find at a real-life casino. Just like at real-life casinos, you can accompany your Pass line and Come bets with an Odds bet.
