Podcasts have really taken off over the past few years and now feature heavily on music platforms like Apple Music and Spotify. As you’re probably aware, there are plenty of avenues available to learn how to play poker, and podcasts have added another exciting dimension.

Whether you’re looking to learn more about online poker, hear the latest poker news, learn about a particular poker tournament strategy or simply listen to how the best poker players go about their game – there’s a poker podcast out there for you.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at the best online poker podcasts to listen to in 2022.

The Red Chip Poker

James Sweeney is the host of this hugely popular podcast that is now entering its fifth season. This is a great podcast for beginner poker players, as well as more experienced hands, as it covers everything from mini-coaching sessions to in-depth interviews with all sorts of people within the poker industry.

Whether you’re learning to play poker online or you want high-level strategy discussions for online poker tournaments, then the RCP podcast has got you covered. It doesn’t just focus on online poker either, and you can garner plenty of live poker tips and tricks too. With over 3.5 million downloads, this is undoubtedly one of the best poker podcasts out there.

Thinking Poker

Two people talk into microphones across the table from one another.

Andrew Brokos and Nate Meyvis are the hosts on Thinking Poker, a weekly poker podcast that covers a little bit of everything. One week they’ll have incredible interviews with famous poker players or celebrities, and the next they will concentrate on some poker strategies, and so on.

One of the most interesting aspects of this podcast is that it digs deep into the life of poker players and you’ll get a look into the hidden aspects of the game that are usually behind the scenes.

The hosts also take the time to review different poker books and online poker sites that will give you a better understanding of which products will be a source of useful information. This is an all-round poker podcast that is well run and simple, yet detailed enough for both beginners and hardcore poker enthusiasts to enjoy.

Chasing Poker Greatness

Brad Wilson is the host on the weekly poker podcast, Chasing Poker Greatness. It is much more of a niche podcast than the others mentioned above, in that it focuses solely on famous poker players and how they got to where they are today.

Of course, going from a novice poker player to the final table is something that takes years to achieve and it’s an aspect of famous poker players’ lives that is often overlooked. This podcast is here to fill in those gaps between beginner and professional player, and what happens in between.

Chasing Poker Greatness looks at famous players like Dan Cates, Darren Elias, Jon Van Fleet and more. It explores how they achieved the status they have reached today and how they continue to improve their games, as well as the struggles that they overcame on the way.

This podcast gives us a rare glimpse into the life of famous poker players and the invaluable lessons that they have learned on the path to greatness.

Smart Poker Study

The Smart Poker Study podcast is probably one of the most underrated poker podcasts out there. The host, Sky Matsuhashi, is by no means famous for his actual poker career, but instead for helping out thousands of players improve their games through his books, coaching and this podcast.

Matsuhashi puts in an enormous amount of effort into creating exciting episodes that cover everything from interviews to particular hand skills and so on. He has hosted more than 250 episodes and it’s an absolute gold mine of information for anyone looking to improve their poker skills and strategy.

The Rake

If you’ve spent any time learning poker online, then chances are that you have come across the training site from Phil Galfond, called Run It Once. The Rake is a podcast that comes directly from Galfond’s renowned online training site. It doesn’t really follow the site’s core structure, however.

Instead of purely focusing on training, you’ll find a podcast that is at once hugely entertaining, but also informative. New episodes are released every week and they focus primarily on poker news and gossip. The Rake is hosted by Jamie Kerstetter and Ben Wilinofsky, and while you might not learn in-depth poker strategy in every episode, you’ll get to hear about the ins and outs of the industry and enjoy the humorous hosts.

Other podcasts to check out

Of course, these are just some of the many poker podcasts out there. Here are some of the others that you should have a listen to:

  • Poker on the Mind
  • DAT Poker
  • Just Hands Poker
  • Ante Up Magazine
